First of all, let me just say thanks to Sau Yeen and Cher for giving their all during the presentation. I know I am somewhat of a perfectionist and can be quite demanding sometimes and thus, I really am grateful to you girls for bearing with me during the past few weeks or so. Overall, I think we did a pretty decent job even though there were some very minor bumps during our presentation and I am rather satisfied with our effort. However, I still think that we could do better and we should have engaged the audience more so that they would not feel bored or "switch off" during our presentation (gosh, I really am such a perfectionist!).
On my part, I think I did okay but I guess the main issue with my presentation was my talking speed. I tend to speak quite fast and some people might get lost in the flood of words during my presentation. I tried to slow things down but once my mind starts rolling, my mouth starts to speed up to catch up with the words in my mind too. So I think that this is one main issue that I need to rectify in any following presentations. Besides that, somehow I have this feeling that I can be a little too aggressive or pushy when presenting especially during the Q & A session. I guess that I need to tone it down a little next time. I certainly had a great time presenting though and I sincerely hope that all of you gained something from our presentation as we did.

Hi Wee Siong,
ReplyDeleteThe effort put in by you and your group members was evident in the presentation. I especially liked the part where Cher engaged the audience during her part. The presentation was organized logically and the transition between presenters was cohesive. However, I found some slides to be too wordy. They could be simpler and include only the main points.
For yourself, I agree with your self-analysis that you spoke too fast. I had to 'rewind' certain parts in my head to understand your point. In addition, I noticed that you placed your hands behand your back on more than one occasion. It seems to be an awkward posture to adopt during a presentation. Nevertheless, I felt that you displayed great confidence and enthusiasm. You also maintained good eye contact during the presentation. Kudos!

I realized that I used the same word twice in one sentence. Allow me to rephrase it to "I especially liked the part where Cher engaged the audience". :)
ReplyDeleteDear Duane,
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments and I really do appreciate them. I will try to reduce my speaking speed in the future as I definitely do not want the audience to lose the gist of what I am trying to present in the middle of the presentation. On your comment that I placed my hands behind my back, well, I did that because I have this tendency to move my hands a lot especially when talking or presenting to someone. So I thought it would be better if I put my hands behind to avoid me flailing my hands around when I talk. However, now that you mentioned it, it does look to be an awkward position. Perhaps placing my hands in front would be better than putting them behind?

Hi Wee Siong,
ReplyDeleteI found your group's presentation very enjoyable and I wasn't bored at all. I loved the "close you eye" game:)
Throughout the entire presentation, you captivated everyone's interest with your firm eye contact and your smile. Although you did rush through your lines at certain times, you acknowledged it to the audience and tried to slow down your pace. That showed you are constantly aware of your own behaviour, which I felt was something all presenters should be. You never looked at the slides, and that demonstrated your confidence.
You have this ability to draw people to you, even during the presentation. Keep up the good work, Wee Siong!!
Dear Yuka,
ReplyDeleteThank you for the very positive comments and I will definitely keep on working hard to be better. There is always room for improvement right? Thanks again for your comment. :)
